Cookie policy

Which cookies this website sets, what they do, and how to stop them.

Last updated 22 August 2026
The short version. This website sets one set of cookies, from Google Analytics, to count visits. The plugin sets none on your visitors.
01

What a cookie is

A small text file a website stores in your browser so it can recognise you on your next page or your next visit. Cookies cannot run programs or read anything else on your computer.

02

Cookies this website sets

metawrench.io uses Google Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages they read. Google sets the cookies below for that.

  • _ga — tells returning visitors apart from new ones. Lasts two years.
  • _ga_* — keeps your session together while you move between pages. Lasts two years.

If you log in to this website, WordPress sets its own cookies to keep you logged in. They are deleted when you log out or close the browser.

No advertising cookies, no tracking pixels, no third-party cookies beyond Google Analytics.

03

Cookies the plugin sets

None on your visitors. The MetaWrench plugin does not set cookies on the public side of the sites it is installed on. Inside WordPress admin it uses the standard WordPress login cookies and nothing else.

Tracking pixels you add through the plugin — Google Ads, Meta, TikTok and so on — set their own cookies on your site under those platforms’ policies. That is your choice to make, and your own cookie policy should cover it.

04

How to stop them

Every browser lets you block or delete cookies under its privacy settings. Blocking cookies on this site changes nothing you can see; the pages work the same. Google also offers a browser add-on that stops Analytics in every site you visit.

Changes

If we add a cookie, this page is updated first. The date at the top is always the current version.
